ABOUT SustainableLiving808

Sustainability can be a complicated field for the average consumer. Most of us want to live more sustainably but don’t know where to begin. What products can we use to reduce our impact? What products can we trust to be truly sustainably minded and not greenwashed to appear so?

Our mission is to educate about sustainability and provide sustainable solutions for everyday living.

Aloha I'm Alicia Wood and I am here to be your sustainability professional!

My home is Maui, Hawaii, where I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Science Management from the University of Hawaii Maui College. I was drawn to this path because I have always believed that there must be better ways of doing things, as a society, and I want to be a part of finding and implementing those better ways. My education in sustainability has taught me how to understand system functions and interactions in order to find the full range of impacts from any given action, and how to identify the strengths and limitations of various sustainability evaluation methods, such as certifications, footprint calculators, and life cycle assessment. I started SustainableLiving808 with the goal of using my knowledge to educate others about sustainability and guide consumers through the confusing world of sustainable product purchasing. By increasing customer demand for sustainable products, businesses that are innovating sustainable solutions will be rewarded and become the new status quo. Together, we can play some small part in creating a world in which humans live in equilibrium with our environment.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

It is important to note that I have not and will not include any products I don't believe in just because they are on Amazon. This just allows me to pay for website fees and also, living in Hawaii, I find Amazon very helpful to meet certain needs. My next step is to incorporate local businesses. So, let me know if you are a local business that has a sustainable product you would like me to feature!
